The World Grand Prix was a major tournament in darts and was organized for the ninth time from October 23 to 29, 2006 by the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC). The venue for the sixth time was the Citywest Hotel in Dublin .
The defending champion was Phil Taylor , who won the tournament again for the seventh time.
format
The tournament was played in a knockout system . Game mode in the 1st round was a best of 3 sets . In the final a best of 13 sets . Each leg was played in 501 double-in-double-out mode.
Prize money
A total of £ 130,000 in prize money was awarded, £ 30,000 more than last year. The prize money was distributed among the participants as follows:
