Vosnytschi ( Ukrainian Возничі ; Russian Возничи Vosnitschi ) is a village in Polesia in the north of the Ukrainian Oblast Zhytomyr with about 200 inhabitants (2001).
The at the border of Belarus location lying located at an altitude of 159 m on the banks of Slovechna , a 158 km long, the right side stream of Prypjat , 18 km north of the community center Slowetschne ( Словечне ), 45 km northwest of the Rajonzentrum Ovruch and 175 km north of Zhytomyr Oblast Center .
The village, founded in 1771, was on the Stalin Line at the beginning of the German-Soviet War . In 1941 the village was occupied by the Wehrmacht and at the end of 1942 Vosnytschi was burned down by the Germans. On November 18, 1943 the village was liberated by troops of the 1st Ukrainian Front and partisans during the Kiev Strategic Offensive . The village, rebuilt after the war, was contaminated by the Chernobyl nuclear disaster (1986) so that many residents left the village, which had around 215 inhabitants in the mid-1980s. Since November 2017, Vosnytschi has belonged to the rural community of Slovechne ( Словечанську сільську територіальну громаду Slovechansku silsku terytorialnu hromadu ) in the north of Ovrutsch district . Before that, Vosnytschi was part of the district council of the neighboring village of Luchanky .
