Johann Albert Tribelhorn (born March 4, 1868 in Zurich ; † November 5, 1925 in St. Gallen ; resident in St. Gallen) was a Swiss mechanic , inventor and pioneer of the electric vehicle industry . He founded Tribelhorn AG .

Life

Johann Albert Tribelhorn was a son of Johann Albert Tribelhorn, Appreteur , and Emilie Hönger. In 1891 he married his first wife Josefa Grendelmeier and in 1901 his second wife Bertha Schärer. He entered into a third marriage in 1906 with Mina Clara Brunner.

Tribelhorn completed an apprenticeship as a machine fitter in St. Gallen. He then worked for the Zürcher Telephongesellschaft and at Matthias Hipps' factory for telegraphs and electrical equipment in Neuchâtel . In 1889 he emigrated to Argentina and from 1891 was head of the mechanical workshop of the state telegraph company of Argentina. In 1899 he returned to Olten and founded the Swiss Accumulatorenwerke Tribelhorn AG in 1900. In 1902 he built one of the first electric cars . From 1906 he produced in Feldbach, municipality of Hombrechtikon . He made electric cars, buses , trucks and boats. From 1915 he published the customer magazine Das Elektromobil . He set up a network of public charging stations on Lake Zurich and went bankrupt in 1922. In the same year he founds the electric vehicles AG in Zurich.
