Wrisse is a district of the municipality of Großefehn in the Aurich district in East Frisia .

history

The Frisian Army Trail ran through the village . The village was first mentioned in writing in 1580. In 1611, 25 people lived in eight households. Around 1719 Wrisse owned eight "Volle Heerde", one "Halben Herd" and two "Wharfing sites". At the beginning of the 19th century, Wrisse exceeded the 100-inhabitant limit, and in 1848 there were already 26 households with 158 people. In 1900 the Aurich-Leer small railway line was completed and Wrisse was given a stop with a freight yard .

Ecclesiastically, Wrisse belongs to the parish of Holtrop .

Since July 1, 1972, Wrisse has belonged to the community of Großefehn.
