The Wurmbach is a left and southeastern tributary of the Abersfelder Mühlbach in the Lower Franconian district of Schweinfurt, almost two kilometers long .

geography

course

The Wurmbach rises in the Hesselbacher Waldland , which is also called Schweinfurt Rhön , at an altitude of 354  m above sea level. NHN in the Buch district of the Theres community on the wooded northwest slope of Eichenbühl ( 379  m above sea level ).

It initially flows almost 200 m in a north-westerly direction through the forest and then crosses the border from the Haßberge district to the Schweinfurt district to the Abersfeld district of the municipality of Schonungen . It runs as a strongly straightened and only intermittently water-bearing ditch northwards through the corridor Am Hahnwasen along the edge of the forest. One arm then branches off at right angles to the west, while the other branch still moves a good 150 m north, only to then bend sharply to the left. The two branches now run parallel through the open corridor to the west, then cross under the district road SW 4 and shortly afterwards reunite. They now have water all year round. After a further 150 m, the now reunited stream changes to the northwest and is then fed on its right by a small field ditch that only temporarily carries water. A little later, on the other side, the Tillengrubenbach coming from the south flows towards it.

The Wurmbach now crosses the federal road 303 and then the Waldsachsen Straße and is then strengthened on its left by the Brühlbach approaching from the south-west .

The Wurmbach finally empties about 250 m later at an altitude of 305  m above sea level. NHN on the southern edge of the village of Abersfeld from the left into the Abersfelder Mühlbach coming from the east-northeast .
