Xerath is an English metal band formed in Basingstoke in 2007 .
history
The band was formed in 2007 by drummer Michael Pitman, guitarist and bassist Owain Williams, singer Richard Thomson and guitarist Andy Phillips. In 2009 they released their debut album I on Candlelight Records . This was followed by various appearances with bands such as Vader , Ihsahn , Abigail Williams , Shining , Entombed and Sylosis , as well as appearances at festivals all over Europe .
In 2011, the second album, II, was released via Candlelight Records . The album was recorded in the UK at Foel Studios and mixed by Jacob Hansen ( Aborted , Tyr , Pestilence ) at Hansen Studios .
style
The band's music has numerous orchestral insertions. The band's songs are progressive and are compared to works by Meshuggah . Their music is often referred to as " Djent ".
