Yago Vázquez

Yago Vázquez (born August 21, 1984 in Vigo ) is a Spanish jazz musician ( piano , composition ).

Live and act

Vázquez studied at the Conservatory of Music in Vigo and at the Jazz Seminar in Pontevedra with Abe Rabade and Paco Charlín; In 2008 he moved to New York City and continued his studies at The New School , graduating with honors in 2010. Since then he has worked in the American jazz scene a. a. with Reggie Workman , Billy Harper , Jesse Davis , Gilad Hekselman , Joe Martin , David Schnitter , Jeff Hirshfield , Scott Lee , Charles Altura , Drew Gress , Jazzmeia Horn , Jamie Baum , Tobias Meinhart ,Harish Raghavan and Ingrid Jensen . Under his own name he released the album Chorale (Free Code Jazz Records 2011), which he recorded with Logan Richardson , Aidan Carroll and Tommy Crane . In 2015, the album Stream ( Fresh Sound New Talent , with Scott Lee, Jeff Hirshfield) followed. He has also performed in New York clubs such as Blue Note , Smalls , Jazz at Lincoln Center and The Jazz Standard . In the field of jazz, Vázquez was involved in five recording sessions between 2009 and 2016.
