Harish Raghavan

Harish Raghavan (born May 19, 1982 in Northbrook , Illinois ) is an American musician ( double bass ) of modern jazz .

Live and act

Harish Raghavan began his music career in Los Angeles in the early 2000s after studying at the University of Southern California . There he received lessons from John Clayton and Robert Hurst . He also worked in California with musicians such as Gilbert Castellanos , with whom the first recordings were made ( Underground There , 2005), as well as with Taylor Eigsti ( Let It Come To ) and Eric Harland , since 2007 in New York City with Becca Stevens , in a trio ACT (with Ben Wendel and Nate Wood ), also with Dayna Stephens , Logan Richardson , Walter Smith III ( In Common , 2015), Kurt Elling , Philip Dizack and with Ambrose Akinmusire , to be heard on the albums When the Heart Emerges Glistening and The Imagined Savior Is Far Easier to Paint . He currently (2019) lives in Brooklyn and plays in the bands of John Escreet and Philip Dizack. In the field of jazz, he was involved in 19 recording sessions between 2005 and 2018, including a. also with Sara Leib, John Nazarenko, Elif Çaglar , Klemens Marktl and Marko Churnchetz . Currently (2019) Raghavan leads a quintet with Steve Lehman (alto saxophone), Charles Altura (guitar), John Escreet (piano) and Kendrick Scott (drums). In 2019 he released the album Calls for Action (Whirlwind Recordings).
