John Escreet (born August 18, 1984 in Doncaster , South Yorkshire ) is a British jazz pianist , keyboardist and composer .

Life

Escreet moved to New York in 2006, where he studied at the Manhattan School of Music with Kenny Barron and Jason Moran and received his Masters in 2008. Since then he has played a. a. with David Binney and Alan Ferber ; In 2008 he presented his debut album Consequences (Posi-Tone), on which Ambrose Akinmusire , Matt Brewer and Tyshawn Sorey also participated in addition to Binney . In the field of jazz he has been involved in many recording sessions since 2008. a. also with Zack Lober , Lars Dietrich , Jamie Baum , Amir ElSaffar and Antonio Sánchez . Escreet uses influences from Cecil Taylor , Kenny Barron, Cedar Walton , Herbie Hancock , McCoy Tyner , Andrew Hill and Paul Bley in his playing . In 2019 he belongs to the Alex Sipiagin Quintet and toured a. a. with Antonio Sánchez .
