Klemens Marktl

Klemens Marktl (* 1976 in Klagenfurt , Austria ) is an Austrian drummer , band leader and composer who has emerged in the field of jazz .

Live and act

Marktl began taking classical piano lessons at the age of six before switching to drums at the age of 13. This was followed by studies at the Klagenfurt Conservatory, Koninklijk Conservatorium Den Haag and Conservatorium van Amsterdam . Marktl took private lessons with Carl Allen , Ralph Peterson , Ari Hoenig , Gregory Hutchinson and John Riley, among others .

While he lived in the Netherlands from 1997 to 2003, he won the 2001 “Leid'schen Jazz Award”. In 2006 he was nominated for the " Hans Koller Sideman of the Year Award ". In 2003 he released his debut album "The Challenge". The Dutch jazz saxophonist Jasper Blom was involved in the album . In January 2003 he moved to New York City . Further albums under his own name followed.

With Rob Bargad and Matthias Pichler he played in the "Rob Bargad Piano Trio". The trio released the album "Mom's Good Wishes" in 2005. He also played with Herwig Gradischnig in his "Ghost Trio" (album of the same name with Matthias Pichler).
