Yama-gun (Fukushima)

Yama ( Japanese 耶 麻 郡 , - gun ) is a district in the northwest of the Japanese prefecture of Fukushima , in the former province of Iwashiro . It has an area of ​​986.76 km², on which 25,228 inhabitants live (as of April 1, 2020).

Yama County now consists of only four parishes: Inawashiro , Bandai , Kitashiobara and Nishi-Aizu , which is separated from the other three by the city of Kitakata . Until 2006, the villages ( Mura ) Atsushio-Kanō ( 熱 塩 加納 村 ) and Takasato ( 高 郷 村 ) as well as the small towns ( Machi ) Shiokawa ( 塩 川 町 ) and Yamato ( 山 都 町 ) belonged to the district before they merged with Kitakata.
