Yancy Victoria Butler (born July 2, 1970 in New York City , New York ) is an American actress .

Life

Butler grew up in Greenwich Village , her father Joe Butler is a musician. Yancy Butler studied at HB Studios in New York and Sarah Lawrence College .

Butler played as a child in the horror film The Killer Behind the Mask , and received her first adult role in 1991 in the television series Law & Order . In 1992 she appeared in one of the lead roles in the science fiction action series Mann & Machine . In the action film Tough Targets (1993) by John Woo , she played on the side of Jean-Claude Van Damme and Lance Henriksen . In the action film Drop Zone (1994) she played one of the bigger roles alongside Wesley Snipes and Gary Busey . She took on the lead role in the action film Witness on the Run (1999).

Butler played the leading role of Sara Pezzini in the television film Witchblade - Die Waffen der Götter (2000) as well as in the television series of the same name from 2001 to 2002. For the role in the series, she won the 2002 Saturn Award .

After the Witchblade series was discontinued , she was arrested repeatedly for alcohol-related offenses.
