Yanique Thompson gained her first international experience at the CARIFTA Games 2011 in Montego Bay , where she won the gold medal in the hurdles in 13.76 seconds, as well as in the Jamaican 4 x 100 meter relay . Also in the following year she was victorious in both disciplines at the Games in Hamilton . At the CARIFTA Games 2014 in Nassau she was fifth in the 100-meter run in 11.77 s and then won the hurdles in 12.94 s at the World Youth Championships in Donetsk . In addition, she was disqualified there with the sprint relay (1000 meters) in the preliminary run. In 2015 she was fourth in 13.67 s at the CARIFTA Games in Fort-de-France and fifth in 14.22 s at the Central America and Caribbean Junior Championships in Morelia . With the 4 x 100 meter relay, she won the silver medal there in 44.33 s. She qualified for the Junior World Championships in Eugene , where she was eliminated in the semifinals with 13.42 s. In 2015 she won the CARIFTA Games in Basse-Terre for the last time in hurdles in 13.21 seconds and also with the relay in 45.20 seconds. Then she was at the Pan American Junior Championships in Edmonton in 14.11 s eighth.
In 2017 she qualified for the World Championships in London , where she was eliminated in the semifinals with 12.88 s . In the following year, she took part for the first time in the Commonwealth Games in the Australian Gold Coast and won the bronze medal there in 12.97 s behind the Nigerian Tobi Amusan and her compatriot Danielle Williams . In the summer she finished sixth in 13.02 s at the NACAC Championships in Toronto .
