Danielle Williams (born September 14, 1992 in Saint Andrew Parish ) is a Jamaican hurdler who specializes in the 100 meter distance .

Athletic career

Danielle Williams gained her first international experience at the 2010 CARIFTA Games in George Town , where she finished fourth in the 100-meter run in 11.72 seconds and with the Jamaican 4-by-100-meter relay in 45, Won bronze medal in 69s. She then won the hurdles sprint in 14.11 s at the Central America and Caribbean Junior Championships (CAC) in Santo Domingo and also won gold with the relay in 45.03 s. So she qualified for the Junior World Championships in Moncton , where she came in fourth with 13.46 s and also classified in this position with the relay. The following year she won the silver medal at the Pan American Junior Championships in Miramar in 13.32 s, as well as with the Jamaican relay. In 2013, she won the bronze medal at the Summer Universiade in Kazan in 12.84 s and thus qualified for the World Championships in Moscow , where she was eliminated in the semifinals with 13.13 s. She finished fourth in 13.06 s at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow .

In 2015 she won the Student World Games in Gwangju, South Korea, in 12.78 s and then surprisingly won the World Championships in Beijing , where she left the US rivals behind with 12.57 s in the final . In 2016 she took part in the 60-meter hurdles at the World Indoor Championships in Portland , but did not finish in the preliminary run. The following year she again took part in the World Championships in London and was eliminated with 13.14 s in the semifinals . In 2018 she won the silver medal behind the Nigerian Tobi Amusan at the Commonwealth Games in the Australian Gold Coast in 12.78 seconds . Then she also won silver at the NACAC Championships in Toronto in 12.67 s, this time behind the world record holder Kendra Harrison from the United States.

In 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2018 Williams became the Jamaican champion in the 100-meter hurdles. She graduated from Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte . Her sister Shermaine Williams is also active as a hurdler.
