Yeimer López

Yeimer López García (born August 28, 1982 in Buey Arriba , Granma Province ) is a Cuban sprinter and middle-distance runner .

In 2003 he won the 400m bronze medal at the Pan American Games in Santo Domingo . Over the same distance he reached the semifinals at the World Athletics Championships in 2003 in Paris / Saint-Denis and at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens.

In 2005 he was over 800 m Central America and Caribbean champion, but was eliminated at the World Championships in Helsinki in the preliminary stages. In 2006 he won gold over 400m at the Central America and Caribbean Games.

Then he finally focused on the 800 m and celebrated his greatest success so far with the victory at the 2007 Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro. At the World Cup in Osaka, however, he failed in the run-up.

In 2008 he was sixth at the Olympic Games in Beijing , 2009 Central America and Caribbean champion and tenth at the World Cup in Berlin , and in 2010 he won the title at the Ibero-American Championship.

Yeimer López is 1.85 m and weighs 78 kg. He is trained by Amarilis Hernández, who had already looked after Norberto Téllez .
