D'Juan Montrel Hart (born January 15, 1979 in Atlanta , Georgia ), better known by his stage name Young Dro , is an American rapper .

biography

D'Juan Hart was born in Bankhead , a deprived area in western Atlanta . One of his best friends was Chris "Daddy Mack" Smith, part of the Kris Kross duo . Inspired by his success, Hart began to rap under the stage name Dro .

He had his first successes around 2000 when he was hired by Raheem the Dream , a bass music rapper from the Geto Boys environment , for his label Tight IV Life Records . In 2001 Dro's debut album I Got That Dro was released . Apart from the regionally successful song Yes Sir , his music, which was influenced by the Goodie Mob , also from West Atlanta , did not gain any commercial significance.

Another of Hart's youth acquaintances, TI , had his breakthrough as a musician in the following years. After the contact between the two, which had been lost in the meantime, was re-established, Hart became the protégé of TIs and signed a contract with him for his company Grand Hustle Records , an imprint of the major label Atlantic Records . Now performing under the alias Young Dro , Hart released the single Shoulder Lean featuring TI, which made it to 10th place on the Billboard Hot 100 . The song was particularly successful as a ringtone . It has been sold more than two million times in the USA and has been awarded a double platinum record by the RIAA . The accompanying album Best Thang Smokin ' reached number 3 on the Billboard 200 .

Despite the success, only a few mixtapes by Young Dro appeared below . Only in 2009 he was listed again when he and TI made a guest appearance on Yung LA's piece Ain't I , which reached the top 47 of the US charts.

It wasn't until 2013 that another official full-length player was released, High Times . At number 57 on the United States 'album sales list, however, the work lagged far behind the sales of Best Thang Smokin' .

Yet another album followed in 2015. However, the reality show was only featured in a few categories of Billboard magazine .
