Kris Kross
Kris Kross was an American rap duo, consisting of Chris "Mac Daddy" Kelly (born August 11, 1978 ; † May 1, 2013 in Atlanta , Georgia ) and Chris "Daddy Mac" Smith (born January 10, 1979 ) who had an international success with the song Jump at the age of 13 . Kris Kross trademark was wearing the clothes the wrong way round.
biography
The duo was discovered in 1991 when performing at the Greenbriar Mall in Atlanta , Georgia . Both were twelve years old at the time and were subsequently signed by Jermaine Dupri . Her first album Totally Krossed Out was released in 1992 and sold more than four million times. The first released single Jump reached the top position in the American Billboard charts as well as in a number of international charts. Known worldwide through the success, Kris Kross accompanied Michael Jackson on his European tour in the same year . A second album was released in 1993 under the title Da Bomb , which, like the Young, Rich and Dangerous released in 1996, was less successful internationally, but still reached platinum or gold status in the USA .
In 1994 Kris Kross discovered Shawntae Harris aka Da Brat and introduced her to Jermaine Dupri.
Chris Kelly was found dead in his home on May 1, 2013. Drug abuse is suspected to be the cause of death.
