Younger Than Yesterday is the fourth music album by the American folk rock band The Byrds . It was released on February 6, 1967 on the Columbia Records label . The album peaked at # 24 in the United States and# 37in the UK . Although the band's commercial success slowly waned with this album, Younger Than Yesterday is considered one of the Byrds' best and most influential albums and is now a rock music classic. Even among critics could achieve success, it reached for example on the 2003 by Rolling Stone compiled list of 500 best albums of all time Place 126th

The style of the album was based on the mix of folk rock and psychedelic rock that had already shaped its predecessor Fifth Dimension . In addition, Younger Than Yesterday was one of the first albums in rock history to feature elements of country rock , which was particularly evident in Chris Hillman's songs, and it was the first Byrds album to feature Clarence White, who contributed in 1968 the band got in.

With Younger Than Yesterday , as with the previous three albums, the hit single was released before the album. So You Want to Be a Rock 'n' Roll Star with B-side Everybody's Been Burned was released on January 9th and peaked at # 29 in the US. Two more singles were later released. My Back Pages / Renaissance Fair , released March 13, stopped at # 30 in the States and would be the band's final top 40 single. Have You Seen Her Face was released on May 22nd, the single peaking at # 74. The B-side Don't Make Waves was not from the original album, but later appeared as a bonus track on the CD re-release.

Also included on Younger Than Yesterday was a new recording of the Eight Miles High single b-side Why .
