Yssouf Koné (born February 19, 1982 in Korhogo , Savanes , Ivory Coast ) is a former football player from Burkina Faso . He played a total of 122 games in the Chinese Super League , the Norwegian Tippeligaen and the Romanian League 1 . In 2006 he won the Norwegian championship with Rosenborg Trondheim and the Romanian championship in 2010 with CFR Cluj .

Career

Koné came to Europe in 2005, having previously played for Raja Casablanca , Qingdao Zhongneng and Olympique Safi . His first stop was US Lecce in the Italian Serie A . Already during the winter break of the 2005/06 season he left the club and joined the Norwegian top club Rosenborg Trondheim . Here, too, he was only used irregularly, but was able to win the championship in 2006 . He only became a regular player in qualifying for the 2007/08 UEFA Champions League . In four games he scored six goals and qualified for the group stage. There he scored four goals in the games against FC Schalke 04 , FC Valencia and FC Chelsea .

In the summer of 2008, the striker left the Norwegian record champions and switched to the reigning Romanian champions CFR Cluj . With the Cluj, he met in the group stage of the 2008/09 Champions League on Chelsea, AS Roma and Girondins Bordeaux . With the cup victory in 2009 he won his first title and scored ten goals in the championship , which was not enough to defend his title.

In the first half of the 2009/10 season Koné missed a few games due to injury, but was able to defend his regular place. At the end of the season was the championship and a new cup win the Double . In the following season he was automatically qualified for the Champions League with his club , but retired in the group stage as bottom of the table behind Bayern Munich , AS Roma and FC Basel .

At the beginning of 2011, Koné returned to Norway and signed with Vålerenga Oslo . Since the beginning of 2013 he was initially without a club before ending his career.

National team

Although he was born in Korhogo , a city in Ivory Coast , he runs internationally for Burkina Faso . So far he has made 18 appearances. His last international match to date was on January 19, 2010 as part of the Africa Cup 2010 against Ghana .
