Yucca baileyi is a species of palm lily ( Yucca ) in the asparagus family (Asparagaceae).
description
Yucca baileyi grows solitary, without a trunk (but sometimes with trunks up to 30 cm high) to branching out in groups from underground trunks, with three to 15 rosettes, 0.5 to 2 meters wide. The flexible, pliable, yellow to green leaves are 20 to 60 cm long and 0.3 to 0.8 cm wide.
The racemose inflorescence that begins in the leaves hardly protrudes beyond the leaves and is 0.3 to 0.8 meters high. The pendulous, bell-shaped, spherical, white, cream-colored flowers are 5 to 6 cm in length and 2 to 3 cm in diameter. The flowering period extends from May to July.
Occurrence
Yucca baileyi is common in the Great Basin Desert in dry forests and prairies in the states of Utah , Arizona , New Mexico, and Colorado on plains and on flat hills at altitudes between 1200 and 2400 meters. This species often grows in association with various types of cacti .
Yucca baileyi is frost hardy to minus 18 ° C in Central Europe .

Yucca baileyi is closely related to the soap palm lily ( Yucca elata ) and Yucca angustissima .
Yucca baileyi is named after Liberty Hyde Bailey , an American horticultural engineer and founder of the Bailey Hortorium at Cornell University .
The first description by Elmer Otis Wooton and Paul Carpenter Standley under the name Yucca baileyi was published in 1913. Synonyms are Yucca Navajoa of Webber in 1945, Yucca standleyi McKelvey 1947 Yucca baileyi var. Navajoa of Webber 1,953th
