Carlos Augusto Zambrano Ochandarte (born July 10, 1989 in Callao ) is a Peruvian football player . The central defender is under contract with Boca Juniors and is a Peruvian international .

Club career

Zambrano began his career at Academia Cantolao , where he played from 2000 to 2006. He then moved to FC Schalke 04 at the age of 16 , for whom he played in the A-youth and was captain. Schalke had previously discovered him at the U17 World Cup. He scored a lot of goals in his youth. From the 2008/09 season he was part of the professional squad and played a total of 16 times for the Gelsenkirchen team.

For the 2010/11 season he was loaned to FC St. Pauli for two years , and St. Pauli also received a purchase option. At FC St. Pauli, who started the 2010/11 season as a promoted player, Zambrano was the only foreigner in the squad who was not eligible to play for the DFB. After the direct relegation of FC St. Pauli to the 2nd Bundesliga, he wanted to leave the club; a change to TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, however, failed. In March 2011, Zambrano suffered a ruptured tendon on his hip flexor , which broke open again in June and again put him out of action for a long time.

On April 1, 2012, FC St. Pauli used the purchase option stipulated in the loan agreement on time. The contract was valid for both the 1st and 2nd Bundesliga. The clubs agreed not to disclose the transfer modalities.

For the 2012/13 season , Zambrano moved to Eintracht Frankfurt . Here he established himself as a regular player in central defense alongside Bamba Anderson . The three-year contract expired on June 30, 2015. A temporary one-year contract was then signed in mid-July until June 30, 2016, which enabled Zambrano to change clubs in the 2015 summer transfer period for a transfer fee of 1.5 million euros. The Swiss sports agency "Speed" held 40% of the sales rights in the subsequent transfer.

In the 2016/17 season , Zambrano moved to the Russian first division club Rubin Kazan . For the 2017/18 season, Zambrano was loaned to the Greek first division club PAOK Thessaloniki .

In January 2018 he moved to the Ukrainian first division club Dynamo Kiev . There Zambrano remained without obligation stake and was for the season 2018/19 at FC Basel awarded for the first team, he completed nine competitive stakes. Even after his return, his situation in Kiev did not improve, so that Zambrano moved to Boca Juniors in Argentina at the end of January 2020 .

National team

In 2005, Zambrano took part with the Peruvian U17 selection in the U17 World Cup in their own country and was on the starting line-up in all three games in the preliminary round. On March 26, 2008 Zambrano completed his first game with the Peruvian national team . In a friendly against Costa Rica , he was on the starting grid and scored a goal. Later in the year he made three more appearances in World Cup qualification . His first competitive goal was on September 11, 2012 in a 1-1 draw in the World Cup qualifier against Argentina .
