Yūki Kadono ( Japanese 角 野 友 基 , Kadono Yūki ; born May 18, 1996 in Miki , Hyōgo Prefecture ) is a Japanese snowboarder . He starts in the disciplines of slopestyle and big air.

Career

Kadono has been participating in the TTR World Snowboard Tour competitions since 2010 . He won his first national victories at the Yukibancho Slopestyle 2010 and 2011 in Katsuyama . In February 2011 he won the The Slope in Joetsu Kokusai . A month later, he finished second in slopestyle at the ride shakedown in Snoqualmie . At the Snowboard World Championships 2012 in Oslo he came in 49th place in slopestyle. In the same month he won again at The Slope in Joetsu Kokusai. At the Protest World Rookie Finals 2012 in Ischgl , he took second place in slopestyle. At the beginning of the 2012/13 season he reached second place in slopestyle at Billabong Bro Down 2012 in the snow park . This was followed by a victory in the Big Air competition Air & Style in Beijing . He drove his first FIS World Cup race in January 2013 in Copper Mountain , which he finished in 14th place in slopestyle. At the last World Cup race of the season in Sierra Nevada he won his first Slopestyle World Cup. He finished the season in first place in the FIS Slopestyle Ranking.

At the beginning of the 2013/14 season, Kadono finished third in slopestyle at the Burton High Fives in Cardrona . At the Winter X Games 2014 , he won silver in the Big Air competition. In February 2014, he reached eighth place in slopestyle at his first Olympic participation in Sochi . At the Japanese championship in 2014, he won gold in slopestyle. In his first competition in the 2014/15 season, he finished third in slopestyle at the Burton High Fives in Cardrona, as in the previous year . In January 2015 he came third at the Air & Style in Innsbruck . A week later he won bronze in Big Air at the Winter X Games in Aspen . This was followed by a second place in slopestyle at the Sprint US Snowboarding Grand Prix in Mammoth and a victory in the Big Air competition Air & Style in Los Angeles and in slopestyle at the Burton US Open in Vail . In March 2015 he became the Japanese champion in Slopestyle. At the beginning of the 2015/16 season , he finished second in the Slopestyle World Cup in Cardrona . At the Winter X Games 2016 in Aspen , he won the bronze medal in the Big Air competition. After finishing 23rd in the Air & Style in Innsbruck in February 2016, he won the Air & Style competition in Los Angeles that same month and won the gold medal in Big Air at the X-Games Oslo 2016 in Oslo . At the 2016 Snowboard World Championships in Yabuli he finished 20th in Big Air and seventh in Slopestyle. The following year he took 15th place in slopestyle and eighth place in Big Air at the Winter X Games 2017. At the Winter X Games 2018 he won the bronze medal in Big Air and took eighth place in Slopestyle. In May 2018 he finished eighth in Big Air at the X-Games Norway in Fornebu .

In 2019, Kadono was tenth in slopestyle at the Winter X Games and won the bronze medal in Big Air at the X Games Norway . In the 2019/20 season, he won the Burton US Open in slopestyle and took the winter X-Games 2020 ranked tenth in slopestyle and fifth in big air.
