Yuuko Amanuma

Yuuko Amanuma (born September 2, 1955 in Saitama , Japan ) is a Japanese conductor and composer . She holds a professorship at the University of Music in Würzburg and directs the Würzburg Opera School.

Professional background

From 1977 to 1981 Yuuko Amanuma studied at Tokyo University of the Arts, majoring in composition and minor subjects in piano and singing. In 1983 she began studying conducting in Tokyo and in Banff , Canada , with Victor Feldbrill . From 1985 to 1988 he studied in the soloist class at the Hanover University of Music and Theater with a major in conducting. In 1986 Yuuko Amanuma was a student in the master class with Ferdinand Leitner and David Epstein in Salzburg . In 1995 and 1996 he went on to study with Rolf Reuter in Berlin , for which Yuuko Amanuma received an annual scholarship from the Japanese government.

The cooperation u. a. with Leonard Bernstein and Toru Takemitsu shaped her musical career as well as the internships with Daniel Barenboim at the State Opera Unter den Linden , Berlin and at the Bayreuth Festival .

In 2003 she was composer in residence at the theater of the state capital Magdeburg and enjoyed great success as the second Kapellmeister and composer.

Yuuko Amanuma is a professor at the University of Music Würzburg and directs the Würzburg Opera School.

Other engagement

Yuuko Amanuma is committed to the construction of retirement homes for aging musicians in Japan and Germany based on the model of Giuseppe Verdi's famous Casa Verdi . In 2004 she therefore founded a foundation for La Casa di Cielo (Italian: Himmelshaus) in Tokyo and gives benefit concerts to finance it.
