ZTT Records is a record label founded in 1983 by NME journalist Paul Morley , record producer Trevor Horn , producer Gary Langan and businesswoman Jill Sinclair . The name of the record company was also written out: "Zang Tumb Tuum" or "Zang Tuum Tumb". ZTT is an acronym by the artist Filippo Tommaso Marinetti , who uses this in his sound poem Zang Tumb Tumb . The word "Tuuuum" is also on the cover of the original book publication of the poem.

ZTT had success with composer Andrew Poppy and bands like Propaganda , The Art of Noise and Frankie Goes to Hollywood in the 1980s . In 1989, both Propaganda and Frankie Goes To Hollywood singer Holly Johnson went to court to get out of existing record deals. Both Propaganda and Johnson won the trials.

In the 1990s, ZTT became a successful dance label that signed artists such as Seal and 808 State .

ZTT has also been successful in re-releasing old material from Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Propaganda and The Art of Noise. Sometimes this material was remixed or simply published again in the old form.

ZTT Records is now part of the SPZ Group.
