Zacharzyn ( German Zachasberg ) is a village with 690 inhabitants in the rural municipality Chodzież ( Kolmar ) in the powiat Chodzieski in Poland .
history
The name Zachasberg goes back to the landlord of Zacha. Around 1780 Christoph von Zacha acquired the Strelitz estate and founded the village of Zachasberg in 1793. The first 15 colonists came mainly from Brandenburg and Swabia . In 1816 there were already 512 people living in Zachasberg and the number of inhabitants grew to 841 in 1871. Most of the inhabitants (approx. 90%) were Protestants and Germans.
Characteristic is the courtyards in the form of a row village with a length of about three kilometers , which has been preserved to this day . The drainage of the net meadows resulted in productive meadows and pastures, so that in addition to peat extraction, livestock was also farmed. After the Chodzież - Golandcz railway was opened in 1908, agricultural goods were loaded at the nearby train station.
Due to the provisions of the Versailles Treaty , Zachasberg came to the Polish state in 1920.
Attractions
One of the sights of the place is the former Protestant church , which was built in 1877 by the local parish of the old Prussian church province of Posen . After 1918 the congregation belonged to the Uniate Evangelical Church in Poland , which went under from 1945 due to the flight and expulsion of its mostly German-speaking members. In 1999 the village school , which had existed in Zacharzyn since the 19th century , was converted into a grammar school.
