Zbyněk Irgl (born November 29, 1980 in Ostrava , Czechoslovakia ) is a Czech ice hockey player who has been playing for HC Olomouc in the Tipsport Extraliga since January 2018 .
Career
Irgl was drawn 197th in the sixth round by the Nashville Predators in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft .
In the Ice Hockey World Championship in 2006 he made his debut in the Czech national team . At the first international men's tournament of his career, he scored four points (2 goals and 2 assists ). Before that, he had already completed two world championships for the Czech juniors.
From the beginning of his playing career to 2007, Irgl was under contract with his home club HC Vitkovice from the Czech extra league. The strong offensive wing proved its scoring qualities in the 2006/07 season and qualified as the top scorer of its team. In 53 games he scored 25 goals and gave 11 assists. From April 2007, he strengthened the Swiss champions HC Davos for the playoffs of the National League A . In 15 games he scored eight goals and four assists and thus earned himself a regular place straight away. In the final, SC Bern was then beaten 4: 3, so that Irgl could celebrate the Swiss championship together with his teammates .
In the summer of 2007 he was hired by Lokomotive Yaroslavl . For Lokomotiv he played in the Super League and the Continental Hockey League and was the Russian runner-up with the team in 2008 and 2009. After the 2009/10 season , his contract was not renewed, so he moved to Atlant Mytishchi . With this club, the Czech reached the final series of the Gagarin Cup in the 2010/11 season and was defeated in five games against Salawat Yulayev Ufa . In June 2011 Irgl signed a contract with HK Dinamo Minsk and completed over 150 KHL games for the club by 2014.
In August 2014 Irgl was signed by HC Oceláři Třinec , with whom he reached second place in the Extraliga in 2015. In January 2018 he was initially loaned to HC Olomouc and permanently signed by them in May 2018.
