Zdzisław Aleksander Mamert Suchodolski (born May 11, 1835 in Rome , † 1908 in Munich ) was a German-Polish painter .

Life

Suchodolski, offspring of the Polish aristocratic family Suchodolski or Suchodoletz , second son of the Polish war painter January Suchodolski and his wife Leokadia Suchodolska as well as nephew of the Polish poet Rajnold Suchodolski , attended the Düsseldorf Art Academy , the center of the Düsseldorf School of Painting , after completing school in Krakow Years 1856/1857 the history painters Christian Köhler and Heinrich Mücke were his teachers. Then he went to Brussels , Antwerp and Paris . Suchodolski lived and worked in Italy from 1867 . In 1874 he went to Weimar . In 1875 his wife Lisbeth, née von Bauer (* 1850) gave birth to their son Siegmund , who became an architect, commercial artist and painter. In 1880 they moved to Munich, where he died in 1908. Suchodolski painted landscapes , still lifes and portraits , but mainly religious scenes and genre motifs .
