Ziegelhütte (Absberg)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ziegelhütte is an abandoned district of the Absberg market in the Weissenburg-Gunzenhausen district in Central Franconia . The place emerged from a brick factory . It was demolished during the construction of the Franconian Lake District to make way for the Kleiner Brombachsee . Despite the lack of buildings today, Ziegelhütte is an official district of Absberg.

The place was south of Absberg and north of the also demolished Scheermühle on a tributary of the Brombach .

In 1875, six people lived in a building with four head of cattle in Ziegelhütte. In 1964 the place had five residents. The last owner of the brickworks was Michael Groß, a presumed descendant of Hans Thomas von Absberg , a robber baron from the 16th century. In 1973 the brickworks was acquired by the Free State of Bavaria and demolished.

There are two other places within the Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen district with the same name: Ziegelhütte , part of the nearby municipality of Heidenheim and Ziegelhütte , part of the nearby municipality of Treuchtlingen .
