Zijad Švrakić (born September 21, 1960 in Sarajevo , SFR Yugoslavia , today Bosnia and Herzegovina ) in Turkey also known as Ziya Yıldız is a former Yugoslav football player and current coach .
During his active time in Turkey, Švrakić received Turkish citizenship .
Player career
In the club
Švrakić went through the academy of FK Sarajevo during his youth and was appointed to the first team in 1979. In the 1984/85 season, the striker was Yugoslav champions with FK Sarajevo. Švrakić played for Sarajevo for eight years and then moved to Turkey to Adana Demirspor . In his first season for Adana Demirspor, Švrakić scored 20 goals in 36 league games and was fourth-best goalscorer of the 1987/88 season with Ziya Doğan from MKE Ankaragücü . In the following season he scored 15 goals in 35 league games.
In the summer of 1989, Švrakić was committed by Galatasaray Istanbul . He made three league appearances for the yellow-reds and was sold to MKE Ankaragücü after three months . With Ankaragücü Švrakić won on May 22, 1991 against Trabzonspor the Başbakanlık Kupası. In the 3-1 win he scored two goals and was largely responsible for the win. For the 1991/92 season, the striker moved to Karşıyaka SK in the 2nd division .
Karşıyaka was second division champions at the end of the season and rose to the first division. Švrakić played until the end of the 1993/94 season for the team from Izmir and then moved to Rabat Ajax FC . In 1996 Švrakić ended his active career.
In the national team
Švrakić was deployed four times for Yugoslavia from 1983 to 1984. Švrakić should be nominated in the squad for the 1984 Summer Olympics, but it did not come because of a serious injury. From 1992 to 1993 the striker played for the national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Coaching career
During his playing career, Švrakić was the interim player-coach of Rabat Ajax FC. After he ended his active career, he was head coach from 1996 to 2001. In 2002 he took over his second Maltese soccer team, FC Floriana . Two years later he returned to his homeland and was a youth coach at FK Sarajevo. This was followed by engagements in Kuwait ( al-Jahra SC , al Salmiya Club ) and Oman ( al-seeb , Sur SC ).
