Ziraat Bankası Ankara is a Turkish volleyball club from Ankara . The first men's team plays in the national Efeler Ligi and represents Turkey in the European Cup.
history
The club was founded in 1981 by the state-run TC Ziraat Bankası with departments for basketball , football , table tennis , volleyball and wrestling . Later, the activities focused on volleyball.
In the 2009/10 season Ziraat Bankası Ankara was Turkish runner-up. A year later, the team came third in the national league. The 2011/12 season was less successful with ninth place. In the next two years, Ziraat Bankası had to admit defeat in the quarterfinals of the playoffs. In 2014/15 the team finished third again and fifth the following year. It ended the 2016/17 season in fourth place.
In the 2016/17 season, Ziraat Bankası Ankara reached the semi-finals of the Challenge Cup and lost to the French club Chaumont Volley-Ball 52 . The club will take part in the CEV Cup in the 2017/18 season. There he first prevailed against SCM Craiova from Romania in the round of 16 against the German Bundesliga club SWD Powervolleys Düren . The opponent in the quarter-final is Lindemans Aalst from Belgium.
