Zockau , Upper Sorbian , is a village belonging to the municipality of Doberschau-Gau sole in Upper Lusatia in Saxony . It is located in the northwest of the community, which consists of 21 districts. The place is in the official settlement area of the Sorbs .

Zockau is located in the Upper Lusatian area in a relatively secluded location. The Naundorfer Wasser , a right source brook of the Schwarzwasser, flows through the village .
The village complex of Zockau is known as a loose square village or as a Slavic round village .
history
Zockau was first mentioned in a document in 1238 in the Upper Lusatian border document.
For his statistics on the Sorbian population of Lusatia, Arnošt Muka determined a population of 128 inhabitants in the 1880s, 106 of them Sorbs (83%). On July 1, 1950, Zockau was incorporated into Gaussig. In 1956 Ernst Tschernik counted a Sorbian-speaking population of just 5.5% in the community of Gaussig, a total of 50 speakers. Today the language has disappeared from everyday local life.
The civil engineer Eberhard Deutschmann (1926–2005) was born in Zockau.
