Techritz , in Upper Sorbian , is a village in the Saxon district of Bautzen . It is part of the official Sorbian settlement area in Upper Lusatia and has belonged to the municipality of Doberschau-Gaussig since 1999 .
geography
Techritz is about four kilometers southwest of Bautzen between 215 and 235 meters above sea level. NN. The area is hilly; the place is embedded in a creek basin. The Weißnaußlitzer water flows through Techritz in the southeast. In the south and west there are artificially created ponds that are used for agriculture.
Neighboring places are Grubschütz in the east, Gnaschwitz in the south and Siebitz in the west.
history
The place is first mentioned in 1241 in the Upper Lusatian border document.
Techritz was a manor whose history can be traced back to the 15th century. The manor house was built in 1789 and is now used as a residential building, the tower no longer exists.
The Techritz fire brigade existed until it was incorporated in 1932. Today Techritz is looked after by the Gnaschwitz volunteer fire brigade .
population
The Techritz population was mainly Sorbian-speaking until the first half of the 20th century . Arnošt Muka determined in 1884 a population of 118, including 102 Sorbs (86%) and 16 Germans. Today there is hardly any Sorbian spoken in town.

Infrastructure and economy
Techritz is located a little south of the state road 119 (Bautzen- Neukirch ). The next junction of Autobahn 4 ( Salzenforst ) is about six kilometers away in a north-westerly direction and can be reached via the S 106 motorway slip road, which branches off the S 119 south of Techritz. The district road 7255 runs through the entire place and leads to Bautzen .
The 114 regional bus connects the town with the city of Bautzen and the city of Bischofswerda .
In addition to small businesses, Techritz is mainly characterized by agriculture.
Agriculture
Agriculture in and around Techritz is operated exclusively by the Gnaschwitz agricultural cooperative .
In Techritz there are several cow stalls that are used for milk production and calf rearing. The systems were put into operation in 1974 and rebuilt in 1992. The northernmost cowshed was completed in 2013. Milking in this stall is carried out fully automatically by eight milking robots . The daily output is 14,000 liters of fresh milk; which in the Leppersdorf dairy to products u. a. of the Sachsenmilch brand . Visitors to the stall can buy freshly milked and untreated milk from a machine every day .
The fields around the village are used by the agricultural cooperative for plant production.
