Krabonoš (German Zuggers ) is a basic settlement unit in the municipality of Nová Ves nad Lužnicí in the Czech Republic .

geography

The village is located five kilometers north of České Velenice on the right bank of the Lainsitz on the border with Austria . Neighboring towns are Neu-Nagelberg ( Brand-Nagelberg municipality ) in the northeast, Breitensee in the east, České Velenice in the south and Nová Ves nad Lužnicí in the west.

history

Zuggers was one of the oldest villages in the area. It was first mentioned in a document from Emperor Friedrich Barbarossa and again in 1369 in the Litschauer Urbar. Around 1400 the parish church of John the Baptist was built, to which Erdweis was re- parish in 1784.

After the First World War, the Lower Austrian municipality in the Schrems district belonged to the part of the Weitra area that was assigned to Czechoslovakia in the Treaty of Saint-Germain in 1920 . Thus Zuggers lay between the Lainsitz and the Austrian border.

In 1930, 428 people lived in Zuggers. In 1939 the village had 313 inhabitants. According to the Munich Agreement , the place was assigned to the German district of Gmünd from 1939 to 1945. After the end of the Second World War he came back to Czechoslovakia and was given the name Krabonoš.

With the construction of the Iron Curtain, Krabonoš was evacuated and was ultimately only inhabited by seven families. Most of the village between the church and the border was razed to the ground. Krabonoš, which was incorporated into Nová Ves nad Lužnicí, fell into insignificance.

During the time of communist rule, the church of John the Baptist served as a barracks, a watchtower on the iron curtain, a cinema, a building material store and a gymnasium. It is almost completely ruined.
