Tha Carter III is the sixth studio album by rapper Lil' Wayne. In the July/August issue of Scratch Magazine, Lil' Wayne confirmed that Tha Carter III will "probably" not be released until 2008. Also during the 2007 BET Awards after party, during an interview he also stated it would not be released until 2008.

Juelz Santana stated that they are finished working on the I Can't Feel My Face album. Wayne is still working on Currency's new album, Music to Fly to. [2]

Wayne has told XXL that the album's first single would be called "Haters (La, La, La)". This song leaked to the internet at the end of May 2007. The song, which consists of Wayne reminicing about growing up in New Orleans, begins with him saying "Carter III".

He also confirmed in XXL that producers would include Timbaland, The Runners, will.i.am, Kanye West, Scott Storch and (as recently confirmed by Scratch Magazine) Dr. Dre and former Cash Money producer Mannie Fresh. Collaborators are confirmed to include Junior Reid, Twista, Sizzla, Kanye West, will.i.am, Fergie, Jim Jones, The Game, Eminem, Birdman, Enrique Iglesias, Juelz Santana, Snoop Dogg and more.[3] The Runners have also confirmed that they have produced three tracks for Tha Carter III. [4]

It was also named the "#1 most anticipated album of 2007" by XXL Magazine.[5] He also stated he will be working with former Cash Money Records producer, Mannie Fresh.[6] In an interview with hiphopcanada.com, Solitair of the Black Jays stated that he and Cipha Sounds produced a track for Wayne's "new project" (possibly referring to Tha Carter III).[7]

Scratch also confirmed that Wayne recorded a song using OutKast's "Jazzy Belle" beat with producer Jim Jonsin called "PMW".

The outro of the recent mixtape, The Drought Is Over 2 (Carter 3 Sessions) features Wayne stating that Tha Carter III will not be released until the middle of next year. However, he stated this in an earlier interview in 2006. This means that at that time he had planned for a Summer '07 release. This was not to be because of the unplanned leak of at least 13 songs from his almost finished, Carter III album.[8] This means that the planned single, "La La" now becomes another mixtape track. Wayne had no part in distributing the The Drought Is Over 2 (Carter 3 Sessions) mixtape, but Many of it's songs were scheduled to be on Tha Carter III.

We have to find out exactly what's out there. I'll probably just [collect] all the songs that's floating around and make my own mixtape called The Leak since people want the music so bad. To tell you the truth, though, there's a song I did with Kanye West out there — of course you want to save that for your album, but the rest of them songs probably wouldn't have made the album. There's a song floating around that says 'produced by Timbaland'; Tim didn't produce that record, though. [9]

The mixtape, The Leak (a.k.a. Tha Carter III Official Mixtape) which Wayne referred to in his interview with MTV, has now hit the Internet. It is the retail version of Tha Carter III that was finished and ready for distribution but now has been obviously scrapped. The mixtape includes Tha Carter III cover, front and back, with the back obviously being changed for the new version of the album. However, the front cover will most likely still be used.[9]

The same article announced that Kanye West worked on a couple of other records for the album, as did Wyclef Jean and that there is a record that will more than likely appear on the album featuring Timbaland, Justin Timberlake and Nelly Furtado.[9]
