Christian Ward (born September 9, 1984[1]) better known by his stage name Yung Berg (original name Iceberg), is an American rapper from Chicago. His first single was "Sexy Lady" which features R&B singer Junior. Yung Berg had been previously signed to DMX's Bloodline Records as Ice Berg. He is featured on the Exit Wounds soundtrack. His debut album Look What You Made Me will be released on August 12, 2008 [2] and is a joint venture between Epic Records and Koch Records[3] and includes guest appearances from Twista, Lil Wayne, Eve, Shawnna, Rich Boy, Jim Jones and DMX. The Almost Famous EP was released on July 24, 2007.
Career
At 15 years of age, Ward already had a record deal, signed to DMX's fledgling Bloodline Records; however, his parents hastily pulled him out, sending him off to a military boarding school in Montana in 2001. After returning from school a few years later, he moved out to Los Angeles to get his career going again. In 2005, Berg jumped at the opportunity to work with Disturbing tha Peace member and Chicago rapper Shawnna as a hype man and as vocal/writing support in the studio. Soon, Berg was making bigger moves. He established his Yung Boss imprint, ghostwrote for other rappers, and his production team, Yung Bosses (of which he is a part with JFK and Rob Holiday), scored tracks for Eve, Juelz Santana, Memphis Bleek, and Shawnna. When he sent the "Sexy Lady" single out to L.A. radio, it became a local hit. Labels were approaching the young rapper left and right with major deals, but he eventually settled with Epic Records. The six-track EP Almost Famous was released in July 2007. The hit single "Sexy Can I," a collaboration with singer Ray J, appeared before Berg's debut full-length, Look What You Made Me, landed in the summer of 2008. "Sexy Lady" peaked at #18 on the Billboard 100. The second single is "Do That There". The third single is "The Business", featuring Casha, which peaked at #43.
Personal life
On Sunday, August 10th, 2008, Yung Berg and four of his associates were arrested in New York and charged with criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of marijuana and menacing. [4] The arrest came after a dispute with a limo driver who filed a complaint against them.
Feuds
Yung Berg released his second single "Do That There". In the intro, Berg seems to call Bow Wow out on the line: "there can only be one prince". Yung Berg revealed to XXL Magazine that 50 Cent told him to diss Bow Wow and to "move him out the game". [5]
