The Tata Sumo Grande is an SUV designed and manufactured by Tata Motors since 2008. In 2014 the name was changed in Tata Movus.

Sumo Grande (2008-2010)

The Sumo Grande is a medium-sized SUV developed from the Tata Xenon pickup, resuming the revised X2 base platform with part of the rear end derived from the previous Sumo of 1994. Like the Xenon also the Sumo Grande was designed by Concept Group International LTD in the UK. The car was originally designed to be the second generation of the Sumo going to place in the Tata range lower than the Safari, however the old Sumo will remain in production because it still enjoyed a good sales success in India because of the list price reduced and consequently the Sumo Grande will support the previous model without ever replacing it. Part of the development was entrusted to IAV India Private Ltd.

Long 4,421 meters, just under the previous Sumo, the cockpit is available in seven and eight-seater configurations. The X2 chassis takes up the same suspension of the Xenon, the debut engine is the 2.2-liter diesel common rail Dicor VGT delivering 120 horsepower, 20 less than the Safari with the same engine. Aesthetically, the car has a five-door body, stylistically inspired by the previous Sumo but more modern. The interior instead is the same as that of the old Sumo. The third row of seats has a two- or three-seater bench, while in the old Sumo the seats were single folding seats.

Sumo Grande MK II (2010-2014)

It is an upgraded version of Sumo Grande. The Grande MK II seeks to deliver added value to customers through substantial changes in the exteriors and interiors combined with improvements in drivability, ride and handling and comfort. The exteriors have been accentuated by a new chrome lined grill, side rub rails with chrome inserts and indicators on ORVMs. The interiors have been refreshed to give the vehicle a completely new, contemporary look with a two tone theme complemented by a new faux wood centre console and new fabric upholstery.The changed drive ratio in the Grande MK II gives a boost to low speed performance in city driving conditions. While a modified suspension ensures a comfortable ride, particularly for second and third row occupants, optimised anti-roll bars reduce body roll to a minimum during cornering.

In 2011 Tata dropped the "Sumo" tag from the name and the vehicle was called simple "Tata Grande".

Tata Movus (2014-2016)

In 2014 with the facelift the name Sumo Grande is abandoned in favor of Movus to avoid confusion with the first generation of Tata Sumo left in production, but the characteristics of the vehicle remain unaltered. The changes are limited to interior trim and color range for the body only reduced to white and silver while the equipment is enriched. The engine remains the 2.2-liter Dicor common rail diesel 120 horsepower. The Movus was official discontinued in 2016.
