Mary Birdsong (born April 18, 1968) is an American actress, comedian, and writer.
Birdsong was born on Long Beach Island, New Jersey. She has four sisters, Anne, Veronica, Carey and Michelle. On television, one of her more well-known roles is the character Deputy Cheresa Kimball on the Comedy Central show Reno 911!. She has also appeared on such shows as The Daily Show, Stroker and Hoop, and Crossballs.
Broadway
From July 2006 – January 2007, Birdsong performed in the Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me comedy musical, alongside funnyman Martin Short, Marc Shaiman, MADtv's Nicole Parker, Brooks Ashmanskas, and Capathia Jenkins. The show is now closed, but the cast album is available through Ghostlight Records (www.sh-k-boom.com). Featuring original music by the award winning composer/lyricist team of Marc Shaiman & Scott Wittman, the cast album features Birdsong singing on tracks like "Step Brother to Jesus" and "The Salesman That Got Away".
On January 29, 2008, Birdsong joined the Broadway cast of another Shaiman & Wittman musical, Hairspray. She played the role of Velma Von Tussle, the bigoted, pushy stage mother and television producer. Birdsong departed the production on April 6 of the same year.
