Indie comics feels like the kind of thing that "you'd know it when you saw it" but is pretty difficult to pin down with a definition which, when applied to the actual comics, gives a decent set of comics without too many miscategorisations. Obviously this issue needs resolving before you can address the other two. As it stands it seems like something that should probably not be categorised (as the definition is too vague).
