(11849) Fauvel is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 15 February 1988 by the Belgian astronomer Eric Walter Elst at the La Silla Observatory of the European Southern Observatory ( IAU code 809) in Chile was discovered.
(11849) Fauvel was named on May 23, 2000 after the French aircraft designer Charles Fauvel (1904–1979), who became known for his flying wing aircraft designs .
