(151430) Nemunas is an asteroid of the main outer belt that was discovered by the Lithuanian astronomers Kazimieras Černis and Justas Zdanavičius on March 16, 2002 at the Molėtai Astronomical Observatory in Molėtai , northeast Lithuania, in the Utena district ( IAU code 152).
(151430) Nemunas was named after the Memel River on November 13, 2008 . Nemunas is the name of the river in Lithuanian . After Memel another asteroid was named on April 6, 2012 that of Eric Walter Elst discovered (40092) Memel .
According to the AstDys-2 database, like (423) Diotima, Nemunas is close to a 1J + 3S-1a three-body resonance with Jupiter and Saturn , the averaged orbital frequency (reciprocal of the sidereal period ) is about the same as that of Jupiter plus three times the orbital frequency of Saturn.
