(17942) White Rabbit is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 11 May 1999 by the Japanese amateur astronomers Yoshisada Shimizu and Takeshi Urata at Nachi-Katsuura Observatory ( IAU code 905) in the Japanese prefecture of Wakayama was discovered.

The celestial body was named on March 9, 2001 after the white rabbit from Alice in Wonderland , a children's book by the British writer Lewis Carroll first published in 1865 , which was continued by Alice behind the mirrors in 1871 and which together with him is one of the classics of world literature.
