(208) Lacrimosa is an asteroid of the main asteroid belt discovered by Johann Palisa on October 21, 1879 . The name is Latin and means the tearful . This refers to Mary , the mother of Jesus of Nazareth in the context of the suffering and mourning during the execution of Jesus on the stake on the hill of Golgotha.
Lacrimosa moves at a distance of 2.8507 ( perihelion ) to 2.9383 ( aphelion ) astronomical units in 4.925 years around the sun . The orbit is 1.7507 ° inclined to the ecliptic , the orbital eccentricity is 0.0151.
Lacrimosa has a diameter of 41 kilometers, belongs to the S asteroids and is one of the largest members of the Koronis family, which is named after (158) Koronis . It has a relatively light, silicate-rich surface with an albedo of 0.207. It rotates around its own axis in around 14 hours and 5 minutes.
