designation

(2407) Haug was named after the German astronomer Ulrich Haug (1929–1992) who explored interplanetary dust in his early years in Tübingen and later studied extinction of interstellar medium at the Hamburg observatory and made observations with the Schmidt telescope . Later he worked at the Calar Alto Observatory and laid the foundation for the Hamburg-ESO Quasar Survey .
