(33158) Rúfus is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on February 26, 1998 by the Slovak astronomers Peter Kolény and Leonard Kornoš at the observatory of the Comenius University Bratislava in Modra ( IAU code 118) in Slovakia .

The asteroid was named on January 30, 2010 after the Slovak poet , literary historian , translator and essayist Milan Rúfus (1928–2009), whose work was distinguished by religious poetry.
