(3461) Mandelshtam is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on September 18, 1977 by the Russian astronomer Nikolai Stepanowitsch Tschernych at the Crimean Observatory in Nautschnyj ( IAU code 095).
The asteroid was named after the Russian poet Ossip Emiljewitsch Mandelstam (1891-1938), a member of the literary group of Acmeists .
