(40) Harmonia is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on March 31, 1856 by Hermann Mayer Salomon Goldschmidt .

The asteroid bears the name of the Greek goddess of harmony Harmonia , a daughter of Ares and Aphrodite .

Harmonia has a diameter of almost 110 kilometers. The celestial body rotates around its own axis in 8 hours and 55 minutes and has a relatively light, silicate-containing surface with an albedo of 0.242.
