(4263) Abashiri is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 7 September 1989 by the Japanese astronomer Masayuki Yanai and Kazuro Watanabe at Kitami Observatory ( IAU code 400) in Kitami Japanese sub-prefecture Okhotsk was discovered.

The asteroid is named after the city of Abashiri on the Japanese island of Hokkaidō .
