(43724) Pechstein is an asteroid of the inner main belt that was discovered by the German astronomer Freimut Börngen on October 29, 1975 at the Thuringian State Observatory Tautenburg ( IAU code 033).
The orbit of the asteroid was secured in 2002 so that numbering could be assigned. (43724) Pechstein was named after the German painter Max Pechstein . The asteroid was named on November 20, 2002 at the suggestion of Freimut Börngen on November 20 of the same year.
