(4920) Gromov is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on August 8, 1978 by the Russian astronomer Nikolai Stepanowitsch Tschernych at the Crimean Observatory in Nautschnyj ( IAU code 095).

The asteroid was named on April 2, 1999 after the Soviet pilot Mikhail Mikhailovich Gromov (1899–1985), who set numerous long-distance records as a test pilot and, in addition to the title Hero of the Soviet Union, received the Order of Lenin four times and was the first Soviet pilot to receive the De la Vaulx Medal the FAI .
