(5162) Piemonte is an asteroid of the main belt , the American US at 218. January 1982 by the astronomer Edward LG Bowell at the Anderson Mesa Station ( IAU code 688) of the Lowell Observatory in Coconino County was discovered.

The asteroid was named after Piedmont , the second largest region in Italy in terms of area .
